This is an important annual meeting! There will be important discussion of new constitution and bylaw changes

affecting the Warren County Historical Society. Many of the changes are mandated by the NYS Not-For-Profit

Organization laws passed in 2013 and effective July 1, 2014. This includes the need for ethics, whistle-blower,

audits, conflict-of-interest and a distinct separation of organizational administration and its board of trustees.

Annual elections will be held as well.

GUEST SPEAKER: Dr. David Starbuck of Chestertown, Author and Associate Professor of Anthropology-Sociology at Plymouth State University in Plymouth and Concord, New Hampshire, will talk on some recent archeological field excavations done in the greater Warren County area during recent Summer research.

David Starbuck is a research anthropologist with an interest in archeology. He came to Plymouth State University in 1993 and has more than 30 years of college and university teaching experience. Starbuck has written 14 books and approximately 90 articles and book chapters based on his varied research interests. His most recent publication is a book on the archeology of New Hampshire.

The Warren County Historical Society was chartered in 1997 by the New York Education Department for the collection, preservation, and promotion of the heritage of Warren County. The Society is developing a library and has long range plans for a museum for historical research, providing a place to gather, preserve, and display artifacts, books, manuscripts, papers, photographs and other records and materials relating to the history of the Warren County region and New York State. The current headquarters of the Society is located in the historical old Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company fire house at 195 Sunnyside Rd, Queensbury, NY 12804-7762.

The Society is a nonprofit membership organization funded through memberships, donations, gifts and grants. Governed by a 19 member Board of Trustees, its activities are carried out entirely by volunteers. The Society has 501 (C)3 tax exempt status and New York State sales tax exemption.
